My career

I began my career as an obstetrician-gynecologist in Santa Monica in 2003 and launched my private practice in Santa Monica in 2011. A native of New York, I attended the pre-college division of Juilliard school and then received my Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. After completing my medical degree at UCLA, I became a resident physician in obstetrics and gynecology at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles.

My philosophy

Each one of us is unique and has a story to tell and in order to help others one must know oneself and one’s history. I pride myself in listening actively to my patient’s accounts and in humbly and respectfully attempting to make the connections between past and present. It is vital to view ourselves in relation to not only our internal well-being but also in the context of our communities and our world. I believe we should continue to challenge ourselves to learn every day and to self-reflect and to question what previously has been accepted as standard. Only when we can truly understand this can we maintain our health, heal from those wounds of the past and continue to thrive each day.

My approach

I believe that health care consists of a sacred partnership between physician and patient based on mutual trust. I encourage open communication and dialogue between myself and my patients. It is truly a privilege and gift to have been in practice long enough to have the babies I have delivered as patients now. As a mentor, I hope to continue to support and inspire others.

My Associations

I am currently a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Association of Black Women Physicians.

My self

I am grateful to have the support of family and friends. I enjoy traveling, swimming, walking on the beach and writing. I am thrilled to be the mother of two active young boys.
